5 reasons to visit Tenerife | Private jet charter

The largest of Spain’s Canary Islands, Tenerife is famous for its beach resorts. Visitors flock to Tenerife for its carnivals (especially Carnaval de Santa Cruz), the great night life and the chance to get away from it all in the island’s hinterland and exploring the Parque Nacional Las Canadas del Teide.

Here are 5 reasons to hire a private jet to Tenerife:

Volcan El Teide

A UNESCO World Heritage site, the 12,198ft Mount Teide volcano is the beating heart of Tenerife. Pre-book a cable car to take you to the top of the mountain – in just eight minutes – and enjoy the drive through Las Cañadas and Los Roques on the way. There’s a relaxation area, café and buffet restaurant at the base station, with superb views over Teide National Park. Arrive early to avoid the crowds and dress warmly.

Siam Park

A Thai-themed aquatic playground of water slides and adrenalin-pumping rides, Siam Park is Tenerife’s biggest and best-known park. From a slow ride down the Mai Thai river in a rubber dinghy to the white-knuckle Tower of Power slide, prepare yourself for a near-vertical 90ft drop, Siam Park delivers endless aquatic thrills for the whole family.

Located on a rocky plateau deep in the Teno Mountains, Masca village was completely cut off from the rest of Tenerife until the Seventies. Access is via a vertiginous road, followed by an arduous hike down the gorge to the beach, where you catch a boat to the popular beach resort of Los Gigantes.

Possibly Tenerife’s most popular day-trip destination Garachico offers visitors dreamy swimming in rock pools created out of lava flows. The town was covered in lava after an eruption in 1706 and has amazing underwater volcanic columns that attract myriad marine life and superb dive sites. Other recommended diving locations in Tenerife are Las Galletas, Los Gigantes, Los Cristianos and Puerto de la Cruz.

Pyramids of Guimar

These fascinating structures are believed to have been made by the Guanches, Tenerife’s original islanders. Whatever their origin, a visit to the pyramid complex in Güímar, in the south of Tenerife is unmissable, as are the surrounding caves and ravines. The town was home to famous explorer Thor Heyerdahl, who founded the Piramides de Güímar Ethnograpic Park. Other pyramids on Tenerife can be found at Icod de los Vinos near the village of San Marcos, on a stretch of road known as La Suerte.
