Chapman Freeborn

Chapman Freeborn focuses on Aberdeen as a key area for air charter in the energy market

Often referred to as Europe’s energy capital, Aberdeen is one of the key world hubs of the oil and gas industry. Vital to the British economy, it contributes to employing over 400,000 people (gov.uk/bis/industrial-strategy), both directly and through its growing demand for suppliers handling a variety of services such as logistics and transportation.

In response to this demand, Chapman Freeborn has recently welcomed on board Jamie Evans, Aberdeen-based aircraft charter expert. With a strong background in the oil and gas sector, as well as aviation, Jamie is developing relationships in Aberdeen in order to marry up this demand with Chapman Freeborn’s unparalleled expertise in arranging charter flights for crew, out of gauge cargo and time-critical shipments.

With over 30 locations worldwide, Chapman Freeborn is strategically placed to handle the most urgent and difficult of projects – particularly through our hubs in Scandinavia, Australia, Africa and the Americas.

For example, we coordinated a cargo charter to move specialist offshore equipment for the Terra Nova project from Glasgow Prestwick Airport to Brazil. Our team utilised the Antonov AN-124 aircraft to accommodate the complex pieces, which had to be specifically packaged.

Often energy companies are looking to transport a small but urgent component or a time-critical contract. This type of cargo is handled by Chapman Freeborn’s on board courier (OBC) division which accompanies the shipment from pick up at the manufacturing facility and hand-delivers it directly to the recipient.

In Aberdeen and the North Sea area, we frequently handle crew movements on aircraft such as Embraer 135, as well as executive jets arrangements for meetings, offering the full range of fixed-wing and rotary-wing passenger charter services for cost-effective crew rotations and executive travel.

Commenting on his appointment, Jamie said: “Chapman Freeborn already has a successful track record in Aberdeen, with our specialist services being used by a number of clients within the region. The establishment of a full-time presence within Aberdeen will give us the platform upon which we can react nimbly to market demands as we consolidate our worldwide offering to existing and prospective clients.”
