EBACE 2014: New private jet types unveiled in Geneva
The movers and shakers in the world of private jet aviation all are descending on Geneva today as the annual European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) gets underway.
With the major private jet manufacturers all in attendance, Gulfstream looks to be grabbing the early headlines at EBACE with the announcement that a new version of the G650 that will become the world’s longest-range, conventional business jet.
Scheduled to be certificated before the end of this year, the ultra-long-range G650ER will extend the range of the G650 by 500nm (926km) to 7,500nm.
Gulfstream claims that – as the only private jet in the world capable of traveling 7,500 nm – the G650ER will open up significant nonstop city pairs, including New York to Hong Kong, Dallas to Dubai and San Francisco to Delhi.
Not to be outdone, Dassault Falcon is using EBACE as the launch pad for the Falcon 8X, the French manufacturer’s largest and longest range private jet yet. With eight passengers and three crew, the Falcon 8X will be capable of flying 6,450 nm non-stop at M.80.
Elsewhere, Pilatus Aircraft has officially opened the order book for the PC-24. Unveiled last year, the twin-jet PC-24 is set to be the first super versatile jet worldwide with the ability to use very short paved or unpaved runways.
Other big names in the static display area include Embraer Executive Jets, Bombardier, and Cessna.
