Expo Logistica Panama set to showcase the potential of Latin America’s cargo market

Chapman Freeborn’s US cargo charter team is heading down to Expo Logistica Panama this week to meet with professionals from across the logistics industry spectrum.

Held at the Atlapa Convention Center in Panama City from October 11-12, Expo Logistica will attract senior managers from Latin American freight forwarders, airlines, airports, seaports, road freight firms, and import and export companies, among others.

Panama is one of the fastest growing economies in Latin America and one of the items that will be on the agenda at Expo Logistica is the long-awaited US-Panama free trade agreement that is likely to take effect in November – further strengthening the strategic importance of the country.

The Panama Canal expansion project will also be a hot topic at the event. When completed in 2014/2015 the canal will be able to accommodate larger ships – doubling its current capacity and significantly altering international shipping routes.

In terms of air cargo, Expo Logistica will offer the industry an opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities that exist in Latin America. The latest Boeing World Air Cargo Forecast highlights that The Latin America–North America air cargo market grew in both 2010 and 2011 after its 15.1% decline in 2009.

It promises to be an interesting and engaging week with a conference schedule that includes discussions on the strategic role of supply chain in business, risk assessment in logistics, and performance bench-marking in the supply chain.
