Get lost in magical New Zealand
New Zealand exists at the very edge of the world map; a country that sprawls over two islands and is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean. With some of the world’s most spectacular landscapes, from snow-capped mountains, extensive coastline, awe-inspiring fiords and wealth of flora and fauna, it’s the perfect location for thrill seekers, adventurers or visitors who simply want to experience the culture and diverse scenery.
Auckland
On the North Island lies the city of Auckland, which stretches across two harbours and is the largest city in the country. Auckland offers an urban environment but with the convenience of beautiful beaches, hiking trails and magical islands all waiting to be explored just half an hour from the city.
There are plenty of fabulous 5-star hotels for visitors to choose from in Auckland. On the waterfront lies the Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour, with beautiful views out over the ocean. In the heart of the city you’ll find SKYCITY Grand Hotel Auckland and Hotel DeBrett – both of which are favourites with discerning visitors.
Not many visitors to Auckland spend all of their time in the city, and as soon as you leave the urban area behind it’s easy to see why. Not far from the city is Waitakere Ranges, a chain of mountains with dense rainforests and idyllic stretches of coastline too.
Queenstown
Queenstown is located on New Zealand’s South Island and sits on the shores of Lake Wakatipu. The city has a ‘Global Adventure Capital’ badge and offers a wealth of adventurous opportunities. There are five international-standard golf courses and numerous walking and mountain biking trails on nearby Bob’s Peak and Ben Lomond. Visitors can also stroll around Queenstown Gardens, and in winter go skiing just outside of the city centre.
Surrounding Queenstown is the Central Otago region, which is known for its Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vineyards. The best way to explore the vineyards is by helicopter, taking off from the city. This allows you to enjoy spectacular scenic views of Queenstown and its surrounding natural areas, before touching down at several different wineries to enjoy some of their finest offerings.
Wellington
Wellington is the capital of New Zealand and can be found at the south-western tip of the North Island. It is a coastal city that sweeps over several bays, and no matter where you are in the city, you’ll never be too far from the Ocean.
Just outside of the city, visitors can climb to the top of Mount Kaukau, the highest point in the Wellington landscape. Once at the summit lookout, Mount Kaukau offers spectacular panoramic views of the city and its surrounds.
Visitors to Wellington are always surprised to learn that the city actually has more cafes, restaurants and bars per capita then there are in New York City. Dive into the thriving coffee scene with a visit to Coffe#1, a global gourmet coffee house that’s a decidedly stylish spot for your caffeine fix. For lunch and dinner, head to Logan-Brown Restaurant and Bar or Icon Restaurant for food, then visit The Jet Bar or Beau Monde Lounge Bar for after-dinner drinks.
