Get ready for Farnborough Air Show 2016
It is that time of year again for the world famous Farnborough Air Show. The event lasts for a whole week, combining aerospace industry trade exhibitions with impressive public air shows. The event attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year as they gather to see some of the best pilots and planes in the world. Here is Chapman Freeborn’s guide on what you can expect to see at Farnborough Air Show 2016:
When is it?
Trade show: Mon July 11 to Thur July 14
Be immersed and meet industry partners who will be showcasing their latest products and services, and discussing industry trends and future opportunities.

Futures Day: Fri July 15
A day dedicated to inspire and show young people (aged 11 – 21) the exciting career opportunities available in the dynamic sectors of aerospace.
Public Displays: Sat July 16 to Sun July 17
Doors open at 9.30, 5 ½ hour display starts from 12.30. Days include live stage show, entertainment and attractions. Meet the Pilots, Vintage Aircraft Exhibit, family area, shops and many more exciting surprises.
Where is it?
The airshow will be held at Farnborough Airport in Hampshire, parking is free or there are shuttle buses available from railway stations. Local council have arranged for full taxis to take spectators between the event and the station for £6 per person each way.
Who will be there?
Exhibitors from small, medium and large companies within the civilian, aviation and space sectors will be attending. On 15th July Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg will attend the biennial aviation event, which marks the exact founding date of Boeing’s launch in 1916. Boeing may even send its new 737 MAX for what would be its first appearance. There are still many secrets surrounding the appearance of attendees and their exhibits, but expect to see Airbus putting the A380 through its paces, aerobatics teams, vintage planes and plenty more surprises.
What else is there?
What many people will be looking forward to the most is the world-famous daily flying displays, the Public Weekend will feature a bigger 5-hour flying display including the roaring jets, the Red Arrows. There is also a wide range of interactive activities, exhibits and entertainment too. Explore the Space Zone and Innovation Zone to have a look into the future of aerospace, with guest talks from astronauts and live demonstrations. You will have the opportunity to talk to the heroes of the flying display in the ‘Meet the Pilot’ area and experience their world inside some flight simulators.
Hitting headlines and capturing the imagination of the public and aviation industry are drones. You will have a chance to witness their new innovating technology at Farnborough during the UK Drone show and the drone racing world championship and experience the exciting world of FPV (First Person Viewing).
