Get ready for Opening Day of Major League Baseball 2018
The start of a new season means fresh opportunities for grand slams, home runs and triple plays. It is also the opportunity to score a perfect season by attending each and every one of your favorite baseball team games – home and away. Here is what you need to know to help you celebrate Opening Day of Major League Baseball.
Season starts early
Typically the first week of the Major League Baseball season starts in April, but this year things are starting a bit early. According to MLB, the season opener is set for Thursday March 29, which is the earliest beginner in the history of the major leagues. The earliest date for an opening season was March 30 in 2003, 2008 and 2014.
Another baseball fact – this will be the first time in 50 years that all of the baseball teams in the league will be in action on day one. This year is one for the record books, so make sure to grab your tickets to be part of this historic occasion.
Finding a game near you
To prepare for this fantastic opener, search for your favorite team or choose a game near you via the MLB schedule. Game times for March 29 run from 12:40 PM ET to 10:10 PM. If you book a private jet charter with Chapman Freeborn you could watch the Cubs and Marlins in Florida before jetting over to Arizona to watch the D-Backs and the Rockies. The weekend of games continues on Friday and Saturday, March 30 and 31 respectively.
Games to attend
If you are new to the world of baseball, you might not know which game to attend. Maybe you want to attend a game but you don’t have a favorite team or city. Here are a couple of places to consider:
- If you are looking for a hot ticket for Opening Day, check out the Detroit Tigers and Pittsburgh Pirates. The Tigers are a member of the American League Central division, while the Pirates are part of the National League Central division. This game will be the sole interleague contest of the weekend.
- If you are looking for a couple of rivals, check out the California clash between San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers. This game is to be played in LA on Thursday, March 29.
- Over in Texas, the baseball rivals of the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers go head-to-head. The game will take place on the Rangers’ home turf in Arlington at the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex on March 29.
Free Baseball game in April
With the first true month of the baseball season in full swing by April, consider going to see the Oakland A’s and the Chicago White Sox, which will be played at the A’s Coliseum on April 17. In a monumental event, this will be a free game for all in attendance. To get into the game, register now for the A’s promotional tickets online.
Getting to the game
This year, are you following your favorite team around the nation? Or do you simply want to spend every weekend of the baseball season in front of a pitcher’s mound? Either way, you need to plan out your adventures. If you are cheering for your team at home or away, go directly to the team website to find a schedule and tickets for purchase.
Be sure to purchase as many tickets as you can in advance, especially if you are interested in sitting in certain sections. If you are attending a local game each week, find out if the venue offers a multi-game discount. For instance, at the Atlanta Braves’ new SunTrust Park, the venue offers a four-game plan. This plan lets you choose any four games to attend while saving $16 on your ticket cost per package.
When you are traveling halfway across the country to follow a team, consider the private jet charter services of Chapman Freeborn. To request a quote, give us a call at (954) 202-0750, or send us an email at americaspax@chapman-freeborn.com today.
