How to choose a Greek Island

Greece features more than 6,000 islands, and over 200 of those are inhabited. Each of the islands is noticeably different, usually with their own cultures, traditions and breath taking landscapes. But which Greek island is the island for you? Let Chapman Freeborn help you decide.

Santorini

Santorini is arguably the most romantic of all of the Greek islands and is the perfect location for a little holiday adventure with your loved one.

The island is filled with lavish villas, hotels and apartments for visitors to choose from. Many of the hotels and villas feature impossibly beautiful infinity pools that seem to drop off into the picturesque scenery of the surrounding volcanic caldera.

Crete

Crete is the largest and most populous of all the Greek islands, and is the fifth-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea.

It possesses some of the best beaches in the Mediterranean, and there are a mixture of bustling resort beaches, private beaches attached to stunning hotels, and also some adorable small bays where you can relax on near-empty sands. Be sure to check out Elafonísi Beach where a small islet shelters the tropical-style waters and the sand is pink thanks to the abundant coral life, rock pools and bright-red starfish.

Mykonos

Mykonos is part of the Cyclades island group in the Aegean Sea to the southeast of Mainland Greece. It is considered by many to be the most glamorous of the Greek islands and attracts discerning visitors from across the globe.

Those who enjoy high-end nightlife will simply adore life on Mykonos. There are several luxury beach bars and outdoor venues that attract DJs and entertainers from across the world. You’ll find yourself able to party from dusk until dawn.

If you enjoy things a little quieter then Mykonos can certainly cater to you too. The island is dotted with adorable towns and villages with delightful whitewashed buildings and plenty of wonderful boutique style shops, hotels, restaurants, bars and cafes.

Corfu

The picturesque island of Corfu lies within the Ionian Sea. It is rich with history, beautiful landscapes and is said to be the greenest of all the Greek islands.

If you want to dive into Greek culture then avoid the large resorts in the south of the island and instead head north to where you’ll find gorgeous green landscapes, wonderfully welcoming locals, culturally rich towns and plenty to do and see.

There are a number of impressive luxury hotels on the island, including Corfu Palace Hotel, MarBella Corfu Hotel, Kontokali Bay Resort and Spa and Grecotel Eva Palace. At each of these hotels you’ll find everything you need for a memorable trip.
