Senior HR Business Partner

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a driven Senior HR Business Partner to join for a 12-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave within our Group HR team based in Gatwick. 

The successful candidate will have previous experience at HR business partnering level and will be confident in advising and working closely with senior management and business leaders in a corporate organisation. This includes the full employee lifecycle process as well as coaching and developing managers in change management processes and supporting business growth in a fast paced environment. We are looking for an experienced and resilient HR professional who is looking to make an impact in this role and will proactively contribute to streamlining our HR processes.  With the support of our UK People Advisor, the job role holder will work with our UK based head office and subsidiaries with a people count nearing 135.

The ideal candidate will be CIPD qualified and bringing first experience in guiding and mentoring direct reports within a HR function.

Purpose of Role

  • To work closely with the organisation’s managers and senior leaders in order to implement HR strategy that closely supports the overall aims of the organisation.
  • This role will be the lead UK role and work in conjunction with the UK People Advisor providing mentoring to support development and to create a strong business support function.
  • To work in conjunction with the Group HR Manager and the ER team to streamline HR processes and create consistency and fairness in People approaches.

Key Job Responsibilities

Employee Relations

  • To take ownership and the lead in managing all UK employee relation workload, working in conjunction with the UK People Advisor and filtering down appropriate work to support ER workload and the development of the UK People Advisor (where appropriate).
  • Consult and work in conjunction with management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough investigations in line with local legislation
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g. coaching, counselling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Work closely with managers and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provide expert input across a range of HR issues (generalist / specific expertise); Design and deliver high impact solutions that meet the needs of the business.
  • Analyse trends and metrics in partnership with the Group HR Manager and Strategic HRBP to develop solutions, programs and policies.
  • Support and coach managers where required, ensuring management techniques support wellbeing and minimises business risk.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation to managers and staff on request.
  • Develop contract terms for new hires, promotions and transfers and contract changes.
  • Assists international employees with expatriate assignments and related HR matters.
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.
  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Understand and anticipate the need for change, diagnose the underlying issues and build the case for change with stakeholders.
  • Build frameworks to plan and manage the continuous process of change including dependencies, risk, potential scenarios and options to mitigate.
  • To ensure staffing data is accurate and securely held to allow for HR analytics to be produced and trends to be established.
  • To work closely with the International HR Business Partner to ensure ER items are tackled in line with the business agenda (including but not limited to: Weekly ER emails on updates and handovers).
  • Support payroll and assist with payroll queries in conjunction with the UK People Advisor.
  • Managing UK benefits and actively work with the Group HR manager and UK People Advisor to review UK Healthcare.


  • Provide leadership by example and hands-on support to the HR team, coaching, mentoring and working in collaboration where required.
  • Provide mentoring, training and development of personnel whilst fostering an open, team spirited, business culture.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to staff within the HR team and ensure staff remain motivated and enthusiastic whilst creating vision and scope for future developments.
