Los Angeles Living
The sprawling city of Los Angeles in southern California is known around the world as the centre of America’s film industry, but there is so much more to it than that. With a population of more than eighteen million people in the greater Los Angeles area, and around four million in the city itself, this is a vibrant and exciting place with so much to see and do.
Art in the city
Los Angeles is a city with a highly established arts scene with many galleries of all kinds opening in recent years. There are now an incredible number of art galleries dotted throughout Los Angeles where visitors can view pieces by artists from around the world.
Be sure to visit Maccarone, a gallery of more than 30,000 square feet inside, and with an additional 10,000 square feet of beautiful sculpture gardens. Other fantastic galleries include 365 Mission (which also holds meditation classes, book launches, film screenings and performance art), The Museum of Contemporary Art, Venus Over Los Angeles and Smart Objects, a space devoted mostly to post-Internet art that explores the relationship between humans and technology.
Enjoy a beach day
Southern California is blessed with numerous stunning beaches and the mild year round climate means a day on the coast can be a welcome change from city life.
Whilst there are many public beaches (our favourites are El Matador State Beach, El Porto, Zuma and Dockweiler State Beach), there are also some private beaches where visitors can enjoy a more peaceful experience. Paradise Cove Beach Café in Malibu has a terrific stretch of beach, a gorgeous sun terrace and plenty of dining and drinking options for those who enjoy a little more than lounging on the sand.
A plethora of amazing shopping experiences
Los Angeles has some incredibly wealthy and glamorous residents who certainly enjoy a spot of shopping, and there are fabulous stores located all around the city.
No visit to Los Angeles would be complete without browsing the boutiques on Rodeo Drive and wandering through the shops around Melrose Avenue. You’ll find quirky upcoming designer pop-ups, ultra-high-end labels, and everything in between.
Pamper Yourself
As one of the world’s most renowned cities for beautiful people, there are plenty of places throughout the city where one can go and enjoy a wonderful pampering experience and many different types of beauty treatments.
Head out of the city buzz to upmarket Bel Air and enjoy a range of relaxing treatments at Hotel Bel-Air Spa by La Prairie, where there are seven treatment rooms and their signature White Caviar Illuminating Facial, which draws people from far and wide. Locals also love Equinox Century City, the spa at Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village and The Ritz Carlton Spa.
The most popular airports in Los Angeles are Los Angeles International Airport, Hawthorne Municipal Airport and San Gabriel Valley Airport, all of which are located less than 15 miles from the city. Contact us today for a quote for your trip to this exciting city.
