Naples: A Gateway City
Naples is one of the most popular private jet destinations that Chapman Freeborn charter jets to in Europe, and its little wonder. From Naples, it is so easy to visit many breath-taking spots on the Amalfi Coast and in the Gulf of Naples itself. This makes it the perfect gateway to explore all that this area of Italy has to offer.
Here are just some of the places that are easily accessible from Naples…
Capri
Capri can be reached directly by boat or helicopter just a short distance from Naples. Capri is an island that has been attracting and enchanting guests from around the globe for thousands of years. In more recent times it has been popular with the rich and famous who come to enjoy its good looks, summer parties, relaxed atmosphere and boutique shops, bars, restaurants and hotels.
Sorrento
Sorrento has been a popular holiday resort with Italians and foreigners for many years. The town straddles the cliffs overlooking the water towards Naples and the imposing Mount Vesuvius, making for some rather spectacular views. Although there is no proper beach in Sorrento, beach clubs make the most of floating jetty’s and private stretches of water.
The Amalfi Coast
Named by UNESCO as an area of outstanding physical beauty and natural diversity, the Amalfi Coast is one of the most well-known coastlines in the world. This 55 kilometre stretch of coast, from Positano to Vietri sul Mare is utterly beautiful as cliffs dramatically plunge into the dark turquoise waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
Whether you choose to explore the Amalfi Coast by car or by boat, be sure to stop off and wander through Ravello, Positano and Amalfi itself. Each of these towns, and all of the others along the coast, have something different to offer visitors. The one thing that remains the same in all of them, is picturesque views that will take your breath away.
Ischia
Ischia is another island in the Bay of Naples and is easily reachable from the city. As the largest island in the bay it is home to spa towns, historical ruins, gorgeous beaches, stunning landscapes and a laid-back atmosphere. Sant’Angelo on the south coast is completely car-free, making it a wonderfully relaxing getaway spot. On the north cost of Ischia, visitors should head to Ischia Ponte and Lacco Ameno to explore all that they have to offer.
The beaches of Ischia are actually much better than those of Capri, although it attracts far fewer visitors. It’s the ideal island escape if you want all the best bits of Capri, but with fewer tourists around.
