Private Jet Charter
As your private charter jet cruises into Pulkovo Airport, your onward journey is a matter of minutes. Just 20km from the city centre, jump into your pre-booked private hire car and cruise into St Petersburg and straight to one of many luxury hotels on offer.
Known as the Cultural Capital of Russia St Petersburg, formally Petrograd and Leningrad, is located on the Baltic Sea. With its fascinating history and ongoing role as a strategic sea port, the city is still home to several key government bodies.
It’s also home to more than 5.4 million residents, a number which swells significantly during tourist season between May and September when the weather is at its warmest.
This city’s reputation as the central region for the arts is well earned. With more than 200 museums to explore, which contain vast amounts of art. St Petersburg is also the former home to such literary behemoths as Dostoyevsky and Nabokov.
Where to stay in the city is a matter of personal taste. You might favour a little luxury in its heart or opt to stay in one of the quieter neighbourhoods. Wherever you go, you’ll be able to choose from hotels such as the Official State Hermitage Hotel, the Four Seasons or the Taleon Imperial Hotel. Spa facilities are available at most high-end accommodation.
Depending on the length of your stay, you may have trouble fitting in all the stunning sites across the city, but a must is the Winter Palace. Home to centuries of European fine art, Greek and Roman artefacts, and state rooms used by Russia’s imperial family. But the Winter Palace is only one such building in a city full of breathtaking architecture and the Peterhof is another well worth your time.
Built by Peter the Great as a summer residence and in part modelled on Versailles, it sits amid spectacular gardens perfect for dining al fresco in the summer months.
And dining is another pastime taken very seriously in St Petersburg. Here you’ll find the famous Vodka Room No. 1 restaurant. The place to go for Russian fare from various historic periods, prepared by the inimitable chef Andrey Vlasov. You’ll also find here the Russian Vodka Museum, which houses the world’s largest collection of Russian vodkas.
At the high-end of the dining spectrum, book in advance for L’Europe at the Grand Hotel, Russia’s oldest continually serving restaurant. Enjoy some fine ballet as you dine on traditional Russian and European dishes.
This powerhouse of a city always excites and surprises. From high culture to relaxing parks, it’s a destination that will transport you to a bygone time.
