Hire a Private Jet Charter to Stockholm and Explore the City

Stunning Stockholm is a fairy tale of a city spread over 14 islands, with cobbled streets, ochre buildings and the perfect blend of traditional and innovative.

Although the temperatures dip in winter, with snow blanketing the city and the sea freezing, the Swedish capital is a paradise of outdoor living in the summer – and boasts some of the best museums in Europe for when it’s chillier.

Your private charter jet will touch down at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, some 40km north of the city.

After a 45-minute drive to the capital, if you want a blend of luxury and homely comfort, look no further than Ett Hem.

With a blend of wood, marble, leather and velvet – and a specially crafted signature scent to greet you on arrival – guests are encouraged to make themselves feel at home in the 12-room hotel which boasts a library, conservatory and a hammam.

The restaurant has a rustic wooden communal table and snacks such as a freshly-baked sponge cake and biscuits for guests to snack on.

A more chic stay would be at the Villa Dagmar, in the cool neighbourhood of Ostermalm. The restaurant serves Mediterranean fusion, there’s a wine bar and even a concept store for guests to buy a slice of Swedish design.

For some Scandinavian grandeur, check into the Grand Hotel, opposite the Royal Palace and the harbour Stromkajen, when your private plane lands. Fabulous museums, shops and the city’s vibrant restaurant scene are right on the doorstep.

The hotel’s Hall of Mirrors is the venue for the original Nobel Prize Awards, there’s a Winter Garden used for performances and a Nordic spa to relax in.

Stockholm is one of the most cutting-edge food destinations in Europe. Try the cosy Ekstedt, where everything is cooked over a blazing fire –  without gas, electricity or microwaves – including dishes such as birch-fired wild duck with fennel and lovage or hay-flamed mushrooms with sweetbread and Jerusalem artichoke.

The opulent Frantzen is calm, luxurious and even boasts a dessert inspired by the Rubik’s cube. Swedish pork marinated for a week in soy and mirin is also on the menu.

If you want two venues for the price of one, try Oaxen Krog & Slip, on the waterfront of Stockholm’s greenest city island.

Oaxen Krog is a fine dining venue offering seasonal tasting menus with two Michelin stars, while the next door Oaxen Slip is a more casual brasserie which locals flock to for a Sunday roast.

The bar Haktet is an attraction for all seasons – in the winter you can enjoy inventive craft cocktails in the main bar area, local artisanal beers in the industrial backroom or sneak into the attached speakeasy bar, while the venue’s inner courtyard comes to life in the warmer months.

Stockholm has a buzzing nightlife, but also more than enough attractions to keep you busy during the day.

Enjoy a cruise around the city’s islands, check out a huge 17th century salvaged ship at the Vasa museum, stroll through the open air Skansen museum to learn about Swedish history, or – of course – there’s the ABBA museum.

The best time to take a private charter flight to Stockholm is May to September, where temperatures are mild and the sun sets late, but if you want to wrap up warm in some Scandinavian snow, then aim for late November to March.

From midnight sun to the darkest of winter nights, traditional cobbled streets to the coolest bars and restaurants, Stockholm is the perfect blend.
