Six reasons to visit Abu Dhabi | Private jet charter
Abu Dhabi has much to offer visitors, including desert safaris, island hopping tours, luxury shopping, five-star hotels, and a rich and varied cultural life.
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
Possibly Abu Dhabi’s most visited attraction, the marble-clad Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is a stunning example of Marmeluke, Fatimid and Ottoman design culminating in an aesthetically beautiful Islamic building. Built to hold 4,000 worshippers, Abu Dhabi’s Grand Mosque is also the largest in the Emirates. Non-Muslims have access to all areas of the Mosque and we recommend taking a guided tour – that also includes the impressive library.
Yas Island
Just 30 minutes from the centre of Abu Dhabi, Yas Island is a playground for all ages. Home to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, test your driving skills on the track day events. You can even stay at the Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi which straddles the race track – partly on land and partly on water. Yas Marina attracts superyachts and their owners who love to see and be seen at Cipriani – the upscale Italian restaurant featuring dishes from their Venetian counterpart. And children will love Yas Waterworld theme park.
Abu Dhabi Heritage Village
A living replica of an authentic Bedouin village, Abu Dhabi’s Heritage Centre is located in the beachside part of the city. In addition to its collection of everyday objects, there are regular workshops where visitors can watch metalworkers and weavers create stunning customised pieces. The Village also highlights the trades of agriculture and pearl diving – all hugely important to the economy before the discovery of oil.
Saadiyat Cultural District
Still in development, the Saadiyat Cultural District will be the city’s main cultural and artistic hub. Visitors will be able to see the extraordinary Louvre Abu Dhabi with its galleries charting the story of humanity; the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and the Zayed National Museum. For now, art exhibitions are open at the Manarat al Saadiyat as well as the UAE Pavilion, which has a restaurant and three galleries, as well as exhibition space.
Liwa Oasis
Escape to the desert sands of beautiful Liwa Oasis, located in the south of Abu Dhabi it boasts one of the world’s largest sand dunes. Try a thrilling dune buggy ride, hop on a camel or have a go at sand surfing. Alternatively, head to the oasis city of Al Anin located below the stunning mountain of Jebel Hafeet.
Ferrari World
Supercar lovers will already know about Abu Dhabi’s Ferrari World branded theme park – one of the city’s most popular attractions on Yas Island. Try out your diving skills on the GT track, hop aboard the 120kph Flying Aces rollercoaster on a vertiginous 52-meter loop. Ferrari World is also home to a vast collection of classic Ferrari cars (1947 onwards) and you can also join a Ferrari factory tour.
