California is one of America’s sunniest and mildest states, and summer is the perfect time for a trip here. California enjoys more than 200 days of sunshine each year, so you’re pretty much guaranteed blue skies and warm days on a summer trip.
The California coast
If its beaches, beautiful stretches of coastline and a laid-back atmosphere you’re looking for, you’ll find all that and more on the California coastline. The state is blessed with some incredible beaches, with some of the most popular being Huntington Beach, Hermosa Beach, Capitola Beach, Coronado Beach and Venice Beach.
Get outdoors
For those who love to be active on their holiday, California is the ideal summer destination. Throughout the state there are hiking trails, walking, cycling and running routes, excellent surfing spots and a mass of different places to indulge in some fun water sports. The variety of outdoor activities on offer makes California an excellent place for families and groups who like to get out and about during their holiday.
Wine tasting
The people of California really know their wine and there are more than 3,000 wineries dotted throughout the state. California is one of the largest wine-producing areas in the world and the wineries attract around 20 million visitors every single year.
The north of California has some of the most well-known vineyards in Sonoma and Napa. Here visitors can tour as many wineries as their hearts desire and sample some of the very best wines the state has to offer, with many different varieties to be found.
Yosemite National Park
Yosemite National Park is a bucket list destination for many who visit California. The park can be found in the north of the state in the Sierra Nevada mountains. There are jaw-dropping views all over the 1,100 square miles of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are granite mountains, pretty valleys, gorgeous waterfalls and tumbling valleys across the park, so be sure to set aside plenty of time to explore.
Disneyland Resort
If you’re visiting California with children, your trip simply wouldn’t be complete without visiting Disneyland Resort in the south. Disneyland is California’s most visited tourist attraction and is often the highlight of every child’s trip.
There are two different parks – the Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Across the two parks there are rides and attractions to cater for all ages and plenty of places to eat, drink and enjoy the magic of Disney.
