Home to Norway’s royal family, the Royal Palace was completed in 1825 and located on a hill, the Bellevue, on Karl Johans gate. Although now owned by the State, it’s the official administrative seat of the monarchy and has a staggering 173 rooms – many in use by members of the Royal Court.
Munch Museum
Nordic artist Edvard Munch is best known for his expressionist work (most notably The Scream). A pioneer of the Symbolist movement he experimented with many art forms in addition to painting, including drawing, sculpture, film and photography. He bequeathed this unique collection to his home city consisting of paintings, graphical prints and drawings. Designed by architects Einar Myklebust and Gunnar Fougner, the Munch Museum is open every day of the week from 10am to 4pm.
Oslo City Boat Cruise
Enjoy panoramic views of Oslo on a city boat cruise along Oslofjord, taking in the City Hall, the white marble and granite Oslo Opera House and across to the five museums at Bygdoy Peninsula. The tour also passes by Akershus, Oslo’s 13th-century medieval castle.

The Lillomarka Wilderness Area is 62km northeast of Oslo and has fabulous hiking and cross-country ski trails, and is ideal for horse riding and cycling.
