The Best Stages to Perform Around the World

Performing on stage is a joy for musicians and singers, but there are some stages around the world that make the experience even better. These are some of the best stages to perform around the world…

Villa Rufolo, Ravello, Italy

Ravello is often described as a hidden treasure on the gorgeous Amalfi Coast in Italy. It is a small town set more than 350 metres above the glittering Tyrrhenian Sea, and Villa Rufolo hosts outdoor concerts throughout summer. Villa Rufolo is a 13th century Moorish-style property with manicured, terraced gardens and the most incredible view from the outdoor stage. The stage is set up each summer so that it appears to almost float on the edge of the cliffs and offers panoramic views for miles along the coastline.

Dalhalla Amphitheatre, Rättvik, Sweden

The Swedish Dalhalla Amphitheatre is actually a former limestone quarry, and today is used as an outdoor music venue from June to September. The quarry can accommodate up to 4,000 people, making for quite an intimate music venue, and the acoustics are said to be comparable to those of the best outdoor stages in the world. The quarry is surrounded by lush, dense forests and is a wonderfully remote spot for musical performances.

Madison Square Garden, New York, USA

Madison Square Garden, affectionately known as The Garden, welcomes millions of fans through its doors every single year for sports events and concerts. It can hold up to 20,000 people for music performances, and hosts more high-profile concert events than any other venue in New York City. Artists such as John Lennon, Elton John, Elvis Presley, Madonna and U2 have all graced the stage here.

Slane Castle, Dublin, Ireland

Around 40 miles north of the exciting city of Dublin lies 18th century Gothic-style Slane Castle. The castle has a natural amphitheatre thanks to the sloping grounds of its gardens, and this offers fantastic acoustics for live music performances.

The grounds surrounding the castle are extensive and can accommodate up to 80,000 people for events. Big names such as Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band, David Bowie and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers have all played here to rave reviews.

Arena di Verona, Italy

The Verona Arena is a Roman-style amphitheatre that was constructed in the first century and is one of the most well preserved ancient buildings of its type. During its heyday the arena could hold around 30,000 people, however, today holds around 15,000 people.

This amphitheatre is generally used for operatic performances and people come from all over the world to see their favourite singers here, thanks to its outstanding acoustics.
