Why you should visit Monaco
Monaco has long been known as the playground of the rich and famous, but there is definitely more to this place than just money and celebrities. You don’t have to be a billionaire to enjoy a trip here, although it does have its perks.
Monaco is a principality located at the heart of the Cote d’Azur, or French Riviera, as it’s often called. It is the second smallest country in the world and the most densely populated, with around 40,000 people living here within just over 2 square kilometres.
The principality is governed under a form of constitutional monarchy, with the head of this being Prince Albert II. The House of Grimaldi have ruled Monaco almost entirely since 1297 and have immense political power here.
If you’re a casino fan and love a good flutter, then there are few better places to do so than in Monaco. The world famous Casino de Monte Carlo was one of the first major casinos in the world and still attracts people from all over to enjoy the atmosphere and indulge in a little gambling.
Whilst in Monaco, a visit to the iconic Café de Paris is an absolute must. Grab one of the outdoor seats in the sunshine and order a refreshing drink to enjoy while taking part in some serious people watching. If you’re a car lover, you will be in your element as Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Maseratis and various other high-end luxury cars pass through the Place du Casino.
A visit to the Prince’s Palace of Monaco should also be on your itinerary when visiting this tiny country. Here, you will get to see the changing of the guard, which takes place every day at 11:55am on the square in front of the Palace.
Monaco is perfectly located on the gorgeous French coast and is near to the bustling city of Nice. Some adorable smaller towns and villages, such as Cagnes sur Mer and Villefranche sur Mer are also not far from here. Next, be sure to visit the glittering city of Cannes, which is home to the annual film festival, where actors, celebrities and critics from far and wide gather to celebrate the world of film.
If you’re hiring a luxury boat or yacht for a holiday sailing around the Mediterranean, then there would be Monaco would be the perfect place to start your voyage. The shimmering harbour is filled with stunning yachts, some of which are available to hire and would make for a wonderful trip.
There are various different airports in this area and it would be appropriate to arrive in true elegance on your very own chartered private jet or helicopter. Land at Monaco Heliport or nearby Nice Airport, which is less than 20 miles from Monaco. Cannes Mandelieu Airport is also located less than 40 miles from Monaco and is another great option.
