Hot Hotel Openings in 2016
2016 looks set to be a great year for the luxury travel industry, with many amazing hotels set to open their doors throughout the next twelve months. Here is Chapman Freeborn’s list of the most anticipated openings of the year:
Four Seasons New York Downtown, New York
New York is already home to one Four Seasons hotel, located just steps from Central Park and Madison Avenue, and 2016 will see the unveiling of Four Seasons New York Downtown. The hotel will occupy 22 floors of one of New York’s tallest residential towers and will include a large indoor pool, a luxurious spa and the first CUT by Wolfgang Puck restaurant in the city.
Ritz Hotel, Paris
The grand re-opening of Paris’s Ritz Hotel in March, after almost three years, is something people are awaiting with baited breath. The Ritz was first opened in 1898, and many iconic names have stayed there since, such as Coco Chanel, Ernest Hemingway, Princess Diana and many more.
The multi-hundred million pound renovation is set to see the hotel reopen with 71 rooms and 71 suites, including 15 Prestige Suites. There will also be an elegant restaurant from four Michelin starred chef Nicolas Sale, an indoor swimming pool, a decadent spa, fitness centre, sauna, Turkish bath and several glitzy bars where guests can enjoy a drink.
Grand Hyatt, Rio de Janeiro
2016 is going to be a huge year for Brazil as they gear up to host the Summer Olympics there. The Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro is due to open in March in the affluent residential area of Barra di Tijuca and will feature 436 rooms and suites. There will be six different suite types, Japanese, Brazilian and Italian restaurants, a large spa, several bars and lounges, and wonderful beach and ocean views.
The Faena Hotel, Miami
The Faena Hotel is set to open at the beginning of 2016 in the Faena District of Miami and will be “a hub for arts, eating, shopping and sunning”. There are more than 10 different types of suites available in the hotel, including the sprawling 4-bedroom Faena Suite with oceanfront views, numerous balconies and more than three and a half thousand square feet of space.
Me by Meliá, Dubai
Me by Meliá is set to open in Dubai, occupying a large part of the floor space in the Opus development by Omniyat. This modern building towers 95 metres above ground in the Bar Dubai area of the city, close to the World Trade Centre and Dubai Creek.
It will be the first Spanish five star hotel in the Middle East. Withholding 164 rooms, a rooftop swimming pool with incredible panoramic views of the city skyline, a YHI spa and multiple chic restaurants.
The Patina, Singapore
The Patina is located in Singapore’s cultural district within the iconic Capitol Building and Stamford house that have been restored by Pritzker Prize Laureate Richard Meier. It is billed as an ultra-luxury hotel and will have a glittering ballroom, a signature restaurant and bar, Singapore’s first saltwater relaxation pool, a world-class art collection and beautiful rooms with modern technology and highly personalised service.
