Spring Travel Destinations | Sun-kissed California

With spring fast approaching many people will be starting to map out their travel plans for the new season. Spring officially begins on the 20th March and until then we’ll be bringing you great spring travel destinations each week on our blog.

California isn’t known as The Golden State for nothing – it has a wonderful climate that could be likened to that of the Mediterranean. Spring can be a fantastic time of year to visit California, as it has little rainfall, plenty of sunshine and is far less crowded than at other times of the year.

In certain parts of California, especially at higher altitudes, temperatures can still be a little cool in spring, but the majority of the state enjoys great weather. Temperatures are much more agreeable than in the heat of summer, and the days are long with plenty of light, sunshine hours to explore in.

Head to the city of Los Angeles in spring and you’ll find temperatures in the low 20s during the day, making it ideal for getting out and about and discovering the city. This sprawling city has a population of more than 18 million people and offers lots for visitors to see and enjoy.

Other exciting cities to visit in California in spring include San Diego, San Francisco, Sacramento, San Jose and the glamorous Beverly Hills. Each of these cities benefits from pleasant spring weather making it a truly great time to visit one or more of these destinations.

California also happens to be home to some of the best National and State Parks in the country. Spring is a perfect time to visit the parks before they become overly busy in summer and lose much of their appeal. Favourites in California include Death Valley National Park, famous for its vivid colours and vast expanse of desert, Yosemite National Park with its incredible glacier-sculpted landscapes and wildlife, and Joshua Tree National Park, where otherworldly Joshua Trees and rock formations punctuate the landscape.

If you’re travelling in the hope of being able to relax by the pool and top up your tan, then why not head to Palm Springs. This desert city in the south of California enjoys temperatures of around 30 degrees Celsius during the day making it the best destination for sun worshippers in the state.
