Tahiti is essentially two volcanoes that have joined together: Tahiti Nui and Tahiti Iti. The largest of the island of French Polynesia it’s also the most populated with most of its citizens living in Papeete, the island’s economic heart. Tahiti offers visitors superb diving excursions, especially in Tahiti Iti, and spectacular basalt black sand beaches around Papara and on the east coast, are both recommended surfing destinations. Neighbouring Moorea is just a short boat ride northwest.

Lord Howe Island Airport – Lord Howe Island, Australia

Lord Howe Island Airport is located in the Tasman Sea, 600km east of the Australian mainland city of Port Macquarie. It’s a refuelling hub for flights between Australia and New Zealand, and offers basic facilities. There are no cars on Lord Howe Island, so the best option is to hire a bike.

Lord Howe Island is listed on the protected World Heritage Register and is just 11 km long and 2.8 km wide at its widest.
