Chapman Freeborn Airchartering's international offices are currently involved in the effort to fly aid supplies to help people affected by the earthquake in Turkey.

The global aircraft charter specialist has overseen the delivery of humanitarian cargo from Europe on behalf of major aid agency clients.

Chapman Freeborn’s Istanbul team has assisted in coordinating the flights which were operated on freighter aircraft including AN-12s and IL-76s and were among the first to reach Erzurum (ERZ) with urgent supplies.

Nearly 500 people are known to have died following the 7.2-magnitude quake which struck eastern Turkey and aid agencies fear the casualty number could rise further. Officials said that more than 2,000 buildings were destroyed and there is an urgent need for temporary accommodation.

Since January this year, Chapman Freeborn has provided over 150 humanitarian cargo flights in response to natural disasters including the famine in East Africa and the tsunami in Japan.

Following events relating to the Arab Spring, the company’s passenger department also evacuated more than 25,000 people on behalf of corporate groups and aid agencies.

Nearly every major humanitarian airlift mission in the last 35 plus years has involved Chapman Freeborn chartered aircraft. Major charter operations have included supporting the response to the Asian Tsunami, earthquakes in Pakistan and Haiti, floods in Burma, and famines in East Africa.
