Chapman Freeborn has a long history of working on music tours, dating back to 1987 when we pioneered our first music operation in support of David Bowie’s legendary Glass Spider Tour.
Since then, the music sector and the individuals that work within it have been a key pillar of our work – for cargo, group passenger and VIP charters.
We are always honoured when we can offer our support in ways beyond air charter, which is why we are privileged to be sponsoring Roadies in Recovery’s Sober Table at the TPi Awards on Monday 24th February.
Now in its 24th year, the TPi Awards bring together the live events community to recognise the achievements in live touring over the past 12 months.
Roadies in Recovery was founded five years ago by Jon Ostrin and Alana Downey, two roadies who desired a way to keep up with their 12 step recovery meetings whilst on the road, and indeed, when in-person meetings stopped due to Covid. Roadies in Recovery was born, offering an invaluable community where members share their challenges and triumphs, providing each other with mutual aid and support in a world in which drugs and alcohol are embedded into culture.
The organisation now runs three meetings a week, covering all time zones and with dedicated spaces for women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Joanne Croxford co-founded Roadies in Recovery’s UK branch and is delighted to have Chapman Freeborn’s support at the TPi Awards. She says, “The TPi Awards are an important event for those in the music industry, not just in terms of the networking opportunities, but because it is a night of fun and celebration. Historically, this environment was incompatible with those on an alcohol recovery journey, but the Sober Table provides accessibility and inclusivity for people who are just as deserving to be in the room. Their representation in these spaces is invaluable.”

“Roadies in Recovery is entirely volunteer-run, so we are very grateful that thanks to the support of Chapman Freeborn, we are able to have our first company-sponsored table at the event.”
Roadies in Recovery had their first Sober Table at the TPi Awards last year, at which each seat was sponsored by anonymous donors and notable music industry figures. Chapman Freeborn’s support this year means that, for the first time, there will be two Sober Tables at the event, facilitating a total of 22 guests.
Paul Kindred, Chapman Freeborn’s Head of Music & Entertainment Business Development – Europe feels passionately that initiatives such as a Sober Table make the music industry better for everyone. He says, “Chapman Freeborn strives to offer a personalised experience to everyone we work with, and the Sober Table is an extension of this. In the same way that a private jet client can request a specific drink on their flight to tailor the journey to their requirements, people should be able to enjoy an event such as the TPi Awards knowing that the environment is suited to their needs. By sponsoring a Sober Table, we help to open the event to those in recovery, welcoming them into the conversation and tailoring the space to their needs.”

“We are delighted to be supporting Roadies in Recovery’s vital work, and I am personally looking forward to joining our Sober Table on Monday night as an ally.”
