Chris Vandenplas (52), Regional Manager Benelux & France, witnessed the birth of the Benelux office of Chapman Freeborn 25 years ago. Initially, it was a small agency at Ostend-Bruges International Airport designed to provide flight supervision support for the many charter flights organized by the parent company in the United Kingdom to and from the Belgian regional airport.
The headquarters of Chapman Freeborn Benelux-France is now located in Bruges. An experienced team of 6 employees, most active as passenger and cargo charter brokers, serves a diverse clientele needing specialized air transport. Since the start of the covid period, the company has registered more requests from new customers. In 2021 Chapman Freeborn Benelux-France had a turnover of more than 12 million euros, and this year it is well on its way to reaching the EUR 15 million mark.
“In recent years, the Benelux team has been instrumental in countless important charter operations, including the transportation of humanitarian aid during natural and man-made disasters, the transport of mouth masks and vaccines, the evacuation of personnel abroad and assistance in medical emergencies,” explained Vandenplas. “We also continued to serve our regular customers. We regularly organize charters for rock artists, company incentive trips, private flights for corporate clients, urgent cargo charters with car or ship parts, oversized cargo flights, live animal transport, etc.”
