What food can you expect on board a private jet?

Blog

A question often received by the private jet charter department here at Chapman Freeborn is:

“What kind of food can I expect on board a private jet?”

The answer; simply, anything you want. However, this comes with a small asterisk – you may not know what you want.

By their very nature, even the most spacious private jets aren’t always the best setting for your beautifully-cooked Chana Masala, or aromatic Thai Green Curry. Once your cabin is pressurised and airborne, you’ll notice that the scent of your dinner tends to linger and the once fond memory of your recent lunch, will quickly sour and hang heavy in the air.

Catering for private jets is an extremely complicated affair and one that is affected by regular changes in schedule (due to passenger’s changing preferences), aircraft, and dietary requirements. We tend to suggest that passengers opt for small portions, avoid anything too ‘saucy’ and be willing to order anything wildly specific at least a day in advance.

Dietary requirements can also be catered for when looking to charter a private jet, vegan and vegetarian options are often requested by passengers. All kinds of sweet, spicy and savoury foods are available on request. Whatever you fancy, a good air charter broker will fulfil your needs.

Chapman Freeborn have been arranging air charter travel for discerning travellers for over 45 years, so have learned a trick or two along the way when it comes to catering. We have provided literally every food you can imagine, from fish and chips to satisfy unrequited fast food cravings to sushi and sake, collected from a renowned restaurant in Tokyo, and everything in between, from all corners of the world.

Popular private jet food options include:

  • Grilled chicken or fish
  • Cold meats
  • Smoked salmon
  • Pastries
  • Steak
  • Pasta
  • Sandwiches
  • Fruits

Lately, we’ve seen a trend in the more prestigious eateries providing aircraft-ready takeout containers for their signature dishes. Restaurants such as Cipriani in New York and Hakkasan, London now cater directly for private jet passengers, with specialised packaging, meaning that the preparation and reheating on board the aircraft doesn’t diminish the food’s quality.

Ultimately, on board a private jet with Chapman Freeborn you’ll receive whatever you ask for; no matter how outlandish or extravagant. We will be more than happy to provide champagne for breakfast or lobster for lunch, however if you’re after something a little more practical, we’re here and happy to help.
