Air Cargo Europe 2015: Stage set for biennial air freight showcase

We’re now only a few weeks away from the start of Air Cargo Europe 2015 – one of most highly-anticipated trade events for the global air cargo industry.

As an integrated part of the Transport Logistic show – covering road, sea and rail freight as well as air cargo – it’s estimated the event held in Munich May 5-8 will attract around 50,000 visitors from over 100 countries.

The mood at this year’s show is expected to be one of cautious optimism – with freight forwarders and logistics professionals from industries including oil and gas, automotive, and other manufacturing sectors all set to be represented strongly at the event.

In terms of air cargo charter demand, the first few months of 2015 have been busy for our global teams – with one of the key contributing factors being the US West Coast port slowdown, as well as a rise in project based work.

The latest figures available from IATA confirm that February was a bumper month for the air cargo industry, with the 11.7% rise in freight tonne kilometres (FTKs) on 2014 figures – partly down to modal shift due to sea port congestion, as well as the timing of Chinese New Year.

As demand relating to port issues now begins to cool, Air Cargo Europe will present the ideal opportunity to discuss new opportunities and initiatives for future growth with airline suppliers and clients alike.

A tightly-packed conference schedule will include discussions on developments ranging from cargo market analysis tools to how the industry can take full advantage of the e-Commerce revolution. It will also be a chance to consider some of the ongoing challenges facing the industry – including a weakness in yields and rising capacity.

If you’re attending Air Cargo Europe, make sure you visit Chapman Freeborn at Stand 117, Hall B1.

In addition to air cargo charters, the team is also looking forward to profiling some of our other value-added products – including Chapman Freeborn OBC’s hand-carry services, and Intradco’s animal air transport solutions.
