Chapman Freeborn celebrates 15 years of aircraft charter success in Belgium
Our colleagues in Belgium celebrate 15 years of chartering success, since the opening of the Ostend office in 1997.
Initially serving as an operational unit to support our international cargo charters, the team branched out and developed its own local client portfolio and quickly became one of the leading aircraft charter brokers in Belgium.
Together with our Amsterdam office, the Ostend team covers the Benelux market providing cargo and passenger aircraft charters, as well as specialist on board courier (OBC) services worldwide.
Commenting on reaching the milestone, country manager Chris Vandenplas (pictured above with colleagues Anne Mascioli and Véronique Degryse) said:
“It’s a great achievement to reach 15 years in Belgium and we can look back with pride to many of the interesting air charter projects we have been involved in over the years”.
“While the global economic conditions are challenging at the moment we continue to do well, thanks in part to our diverse range of services, but also the hard work and dedication of our team.”
While Ostend isn’t the same international cargo hub it was 15 years ago, Chapman Freeborn’s Belgium team still manages regular worldwide air cargo charter operations for clients including freight forwarders, logistics companies and humanitarian aid organisations.
Over the years the Belgium team has played an important part in international aid airlifts including the Asian tsunami in 2004, the Haiti earthquake in 2010 and numerous aircraft charter operations to Africa in response to famines.
In terms of commercial cargo operations, the team has developed expertise in moving both urgent and outsize cargo. One recent high-profile project involved eight Antonov 124 charters from Ostend to Perth. The cargo consignment included six 40-foot high-cube containers with insulation materials destined for an energy project in Western Australia.
Benelux has also proved a successful market for Chapman Freeborn’s on board courier team – which hand-delivers time-critical parts and important documents worldwide.
In addition to the cargo-related operations, Chapman Freeborn’s Ostend team has also expanded the company’s passenger business in Belgium, including aircraft charters for corporate clients as well as the conference and incentive travel industry.
The company’s worldwide expertise in supplying private jet solutions to the music industry has also been strengthened by the Ostend team who work extensively with top DJ’s, producers and bands travelling to and from the Benelux region.
