High-demand for sports event travel in 2017

Chapman Freeborn is seeing high-demand for sports event travel in 2017 – and this is set to increase over the next few months with several major European tournaments nearing the latter stages.

Tomorrow’s Europa League last 16 draw already includes Manchester United, FC Schalke 04 and FK Krasnodar – with a further 13 places up for grabs in tonight’s fixtures happening across Europe.

Elsewhere, this year’s Champions League is looking like one of the most open competitions in years – leaving fans guessing as who might make it all the way to Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium in June.

Not to be outdone, the European Rugby Champions Cup is already at the quarter final stage – with Saracens, Clermont Auvergne and Munster looking like strong contenders.

This all adds up to a lot of flying for supporters in the next three months as they follow their team’s fortunes in knockout European fixtures.

Simon Cooper, Passenger Charter Manager at Chapman Freeborn says:

“This is always one of the busiest times of the year for group charter demand for sports events – and this year is no different. Particularly in the case of European football, in the late stages the draws often lead to a sudden rush for aircraft capacity.

Football is still the biggest draw, but in the last few years some of our largest charter operations have been for groups of rugby fans – with the French in particular travelling in large numbers.”

Aircraft charter is ideal for all types of group travel, including: sports teams, management and crew, sponsors and VIP guests, supporters and media.
