Anne Frank Museum

No trip to Amsterdam is complete without a visit to the home of the celebrated and iconic Jewish wartime diarist, Anne Frank. Located on Prinsengracht in the centre of Amsterdam, her house is a living museum and tribute to this young woman’s courage. Visit the secret annex – it still has her magazine clippings, photos and postcards on the walls.

Rijksmuseum – The Museum of the Netherlands

Dedicated to Dutch art and history, the Rijksmuseum is located on Museumstraat. It has regular exhibitions and after a morning of culture, you can refresh at the atrium café above the Rijksmuseum shop. RIJKS® restaurant in the Philip’s wing serves dishes with mainly local provenance.

Rembrandt House Museum

Between 1639 and 1656 the Netherland’s most famous artist lived and worked in this house on Jodenbreestraat. Carefully restored and showcasing the period furniture and furnishings of 17th-century Amsterdam, the Rembrandt House Museum is home to many of Rembrandt’s sketchings and is a venue for contemporary artists.

Van Gogh Museum

Rarely has an artistic genius been so celebrated after his death. The latest exhibition at the Van Gogh Museum is entitled: The Dutch in Paris 1789-1914. A must for art lovers.

Herengracht

The canal district that was once home to the richest merchants in Amsterdam. Visit the oldest house in Amsterdam at No. 91; built in 1590 as a weaver’s house. View the beautiful houses from a canal boat trip, or admire the view over coffee at one of the many cafes.

Dutch National Opera and Ballet
