Chapman Freeborn South African cargo team received a time-critical enquiry from international shipping and logistics company, SENATOR INTERNATIONAL. The end client is one of the global leaders in the automotive industry and if the cargo wasn’t urgently delivered it would have resulted in the immediate closure of the production plant.
It was imperative that the cargo reached the production plant in under 24hours.
The consignment was for two pieces of cargo amounting to 540kg. The cargo was awaiting to be released from a container ship in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The Chapman Freeborn broker team’s objective was to move the cargo in two sections over to the production plant based in Pretoria, one of South Africa’s three capital cities.
Setting to work the broker team arranged for the positioning of two Pilatus PC12 aircraft at Port Elizabeth Airport in preparation for SENATOR INTERNATIONAL to deliver the cargo from the container ship. With both parties in place ready to move, time was running out as they waited on the release of the cargo from the ship.
Once the cargo was released, Chapman Freeborn swooped into action with both flights taking just under 2 ½ hours. On arrival at Pretoria Airport (PRY), SENATOR INTERNATIONAL assisted in the acceleration of the operation, by gaining airside access to the aircraft which allowed direct access to collect the cargo from the aircraft.
The operation was a great success with both Chapman Freeborn and SENATOR INTERNATIONAL working in synergy, the automotive client was very impressed with how quickly the cargo was delivered, saving the production line from closure.
A special thanks to Gerhard Coetzee, Chapman Freeborn Charter Manager and the SENATOR Automotive Team Johannesburg without their incredible efforts, this operation would simply have not been achievable.
