Santorini

Travelling is something wonderful: we get to know new places and foreign cultures, whilst broadening our horizons and exploring the world.

Sun-kissed skin skin and exotic stamps in our passports make everyone at home turn green with envy!

Are you already sitting on packed suitcases? We’ll be happy to suggest some destinations you can fly to with Chapman Freeborn this summer.

Santorini, Greece

The enthusiasm for this romantic holiday paradise by the sea has been unbroken for years, with its turquoise sea, white cottages, blue domes and warm temperatures.

Hiking trails lead along the coastal landscape up to the highest mountain of the Greek archipelago. For those interested in history, , a visit to the archaeological site of Old Thera is a must. Those seeking relaxation will find it on the volcanic beaches in Kamari and Perissa. In the evening you can stroll along the beach promenade of Kamari, which is lined with countless tavernas, bars, hotels and shops.

The capital Fira is located on the eastern side of the island and is well worth a visit. From here you can enjoy a great view of the white houses and Caldera, a sea water-filled volcanic crater.

Mykonos, Greece

Holidays on Mykonos are very trendy. In the high season of July and August, Mykonos is transformed into a pulsating party metropolis and  you wouldn’t be remiss to think of it as St. Tropez meets Ibiza.

Mykonos town is at the centre of this lively island. In addition to the numerous tavernas directly at the harbour, there are also many bars and clubs.

Around 200 beaches line the 88 square-kilometre coastline of Mykonos. The beaches in the south of the island are particularly lively in the summer months, during which the 500-metre-long Paradise Beach with its beach club, restaurants and water sports centre is particularly popular. One bay further on is the “Super Paradise Beach” – here, sun-hungry tourists loll under the umbrellas all summer.

However, Mykonos also has a quiet and romantic side. For anyone looking for a little more relaxation, the beach of Agios Ioannis is recommended. Several tavernas offer inexpensive and typical local dishes, and in the evening you can watch the sunset behind the island of Delos. Another quiet beach spot is Agois Sostis in the north of the island.

Puglia, Italy

Puglia – the heel of the Italian boot – comprises around 800 varied kilometres of coastline. Fine sandy beaches alternate with small bays surrounded by impressive rock formations.

Located in the south-east of Italy, the region offers multifaceted landscapes and an extraordinary play of colours. On the coasts, the white limestone forms a contrasting picture together with the hues of the sea. In the interior, lush green tones of the trees and olive groves as well as the red earth (terra rossa) dominate. Puglia is also gifted with around 300 days of sunshine a year.

Shaped by history and agriculture, this region has developed an architectural peculiarity that can hardly be found in any other place. In the town of Alberobello you can marvel at the “trulli” – small, mostly white houses with their characteristic cone-shaped “pointed cap roofs”.

The region between the capital Bari and Brindisi, as well as the Salento peninsula, are popular destinations and offer their visitors unique holiday opportunities, with airports in Bari and Brindisi.

Provence & Cote d’Azur, France

The Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region is home to an almost inexhaustible supply of historical and cultural sights and attracts visitors from all over the world. The region has a total of 753 historical monuments!

The region offers events of all sizes and for every budget: the sandy beaches of the Cote d’Azur, the 2013 Capital of Culture Marseille, historic Avignon and many idyllic mountain villages and fishing ports.

The area is also home to stunning lavender fields. From mid-June to mid-August, the blossoming violet-blue fields dominate the landscape..

Canary Islands

The Canary Islands are a popular travel destination for private holidaymakers with something to offer for every taste.

Located off the west coast of Africa, the Canary Islands enjoy warm temperatures all year round. With around 5,000 hours of sunshine a year, the  Canaries are one of the sunniest areas in Europe.

With an area of 1560.1 km², Gran Canaria is the third largest Canary Island and lies about 200 km west of Africa at the same altitude as Florida. It’s often referred to as a miniature continent due to its climatic conditions and diverse vegetation. About 43% of the volcanic island is protected, and the island has a 236-kilometre coastline and 50 kilometres of sandy beaches.

Tenerife is the largest island of the Canary Islands and offers ideal conditions for a summer holiday, an excellent hotel infrastructure with plenty of 5-star hotels and 2 international airports.

The waters of Tenerife are home to pods of pilot whales. The animals, up to eight metres long and weighing up to 2,500 kilograms, can be observed on whale watching tours – a unique experience.
