With a population of nearly three million people, Argentina’s capital city is a hive of activity.

This is a place where cultures collide, architecture delights and the city is so wonderfully alive with colour, people and passion.

A carnivore’s dream

Buenos Aires is the perfect place to be a meat lover. Visitors will find steakhouses – known as parrillas – throughout the city. Choose from a variety of different cuts of beef and be sure to wash it down with a glass or two of some fine Argentinian red wine.

Aside from steakhouses, the food scene in Buenos Aires is thriving. There are fabulous Latin fusion restaurants, Italian eateries and fine-dining restaurants dotted throughout the city. This is a city that won’t disappoint even the fussiest of foodies.

‘Paris of South America’

Buenos Aires has strong European roots and is heavily influenced by European culture. It is often referred to as the ‘Paris of South America’ thanks to many of its landmarks and important buildings being built at the time when Argentina was one of the wealthiest and most prosperous in the world. Those who were in charge at the time looked to Europe, and most notably France, for architectural inspiration.

The San Martin Palace, Military Circle, City Government Building and many others are almost identical replicas of buildings in Paris. At many points during your visit to Buenos Aires you’d be forgiven for thinking you were actually wandering the streets of Paris, rather than one of South America’s largest cities!

Fall in love with tango

Buenos Aires is credited with being the birthplace of the tango – a sensual partner dance that first became popular in the 1880s. The tango is intrinsically linked with Argentinian culture and has been included on the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage, recognising the significance of this dance.

There are places to learn, practice and perform your tango moves throughout the city. Get involved in the milonga scene – places where people can dance tango. Every night of the week in Buenos Aires you can find milongas that are full of people dancing, drinking and having the time of their life. If watching the tango is more your style, then you’ll find plenty glamorous tango shows in various venues in Buenos Aires too.

Live in luxury

When it comes to luxury accommodation, Buenos Aires has plenty to offer the discerning traveller. Favourites include the Hotel Pulitzer Buenos Aires, Sofitel Buenos Aires, Panamericano Hotel and Resort, Park Hyatt Buenos Aires, Four Seasons Buenos Aires and the classically luxurious Faena Hotel Buenos Aires.

Many of the hotels in Buenos Aires have strong European influence both inside and out so don’t be surprised to find hotels that look and feel like they belong in continental Europe.

Travel to Argentina’s fascinating capital city in style and convenience by chartering a private jet. Chapman Freeborn can organise private jets to and from Buenos Aires, utilising Ministro Pistarini International Airport or San Fernando Airport, both of which are located less than twenty miles from the city.
